I found my first problem when I tried to follow links between the two blogs I’ve set up on the FKE Internet system: The links didn’t work in either direction! I went back to the Virtual Multiblog documentation, and found the clue I needed: The .htaccess file has to be set up differently when (some) blogs are in subdomains. The links now work in both directions
As I indicated in my personal blog, this blog is one of two on the FKE Internet VPS account that use the same code base. I’ve already found one difficulty – this configuration doesn’t support separate .htaccess files for each blog/domain – but for the moment, it doesn’t seem to be a major issue. My biggest concern was that I wanted separate databases for each project, and to use different themes and options – and that all works pretty well “out of the box” – so I don’t have any major issues.
Now I’ve got to move on to the next immediate task – setting up a Drupal-based Web site…
L5Business.com has come to life as an experimental WordPress instance. After much consideration, I settled on the iNove theme for the initial development. As time and resources permit, I expect this site to end up with a custom theme that addresses the unique nature of the business niche it’s attempting to address: a discussion point/resource center for companies and individuals interested in conducting business operations at the Earth-Moon L5 Lagrange point.
